Classroom Expectations

Lockers

At the start of the year, you were able to choose who you shared a locker with. Make sure you and that person work together to keep a clean and organized area

Entry/ Preparation for Class

Enter the classroom quietly and be ready to start class immediately. You are responsible for having the proper materials (agendas, pens, paper, textbooks, calculators, etc.) each day.

Washroom and Drinking Fountain

To use the washroom or get a drink, raise your hand and ask.  The teacher will sign your agenda and students are expected back within a REASONABLE amount of time

Agendas

Agendas will be checked and signed.  You are responsible for having your agenda signed by your parents. This ensures continual communication between home and school.  You need to carry your agenda to EACH class

**The agenda can be a very beneficial organizational tool if utilized properly.  Use it!

Textbooks

You were assigned textbooks by your teachers.  It is your responsibility to care for and keep track of these books.  Lost or damaged textbooks will need to be replaced by the student assigned to the textbook

Independent Reading Books

You are required to bring an independent reading book to each of your Core classes.  The books you have read will be tracked for a part of your reading mark on your report card.

Lunch

You must stay in your seat while eating during nutrition breaks.  It is your responsibility to clean up after yourself and take care of your recycling and garbage accordingly.
Students are permitted to go out for lunch during 2nd Nutrition Break ONLY IF they have provided a note to their 1st period teacher from parents.

Recess

You will go outside for 20 minutes at the beginning of the nutrition break.  It is expected that you are following the rules of fair play and respect for each other.  Bullying and/or hands-on/rough play will not be tolerated

Homework/Assignments/Tests

You have a lot of teachers this year.  It is your responsibility to ensure your homework and assignments are done and that you are prepared for tests.  Use your agenda to plan your time appropriately.

If there was a problem with completion of homework or an assignment that I have given you, it is expected that you talk to the teacher BEFORE class (or the due date) about the situation.  We will make a plan to ensure that you are on track with all assignments and tests.

Extra Help

If you need extra help with anything that we are learning about, teachers are available to help during Nutrition Breaks.  Talk to your teacher about an appropriate time when you can meet to review concepts.

Leadership

We have very high expectations for you this year.  You will have a year filled with many opportunities.  Take advantage of them!  We will push you to reach your full potential at Greenleaf.

Accountability

At some point during the school year, we may make mistakes or have a lapse in judgement.  If this occurs, the most important thing is that you take responsibility for what has happened.  Tell the truth and be honest about the circumstances surrounding any incidents that occur.

Respect

I expect that you will show respect to your teachers and to each other.  I will also show you respect.  Will I treat you all the same?  Of course not…you all have different learning styles, needs and personalities.  So I will not treat you all the same but I will treat you fairly.
